About
Twin Cat is all about the appreciation of new and pre-loved clothes. Particularly those of a quirky nature. We’d like to say the genius idea of making our store came after an alcohol-fuelled night at 4am in the morning on the couch watching a spider eat a nacho. Because that would be so much cooler. Unfortunately it came about because we realised we were starting to dress the same and kept boring other people with our conversations about fashion. We kept trying to convince our friend to get a haircut like Morrissey, but he refused, and the store was born. We’ll show him.Following

We currently have no stock in the store - which is awfully sad, but it doesn’t mean there isn’t new stuff coming soon! We have been shopping our little hearts out for you lately and have got some amazing stock just begging to be worn. We also have some exciting photoshoots coming up and a brand new blog, which we are in the process of transferring over to.
So please be patient with us, we have some big (feathery) plans that we can’t wait to share with you. If you were fortunate enough to buy something from our store in the last round of auctions, we are in the process of mailing all of these out to you at the moment. As soon as your payments clear, we post them, as we know you can’t wait to wear them.
Have a splendid week kitties,
Love TC xo

As fashion photography is possibly the single, most influential part of my (Sam’s) life, I have amassed over the years, an enormous collection of images I find aesthetically eye-pleasing on my hard drive. I usually dig these out whenever I want to feel inspired and find some images are timeless whereas others are very timeLY. These help me in times when I don’t know what art direction to take, they help inspire pose ideas for models and they help generate ideas of atmosphere and mood - which is the most important aspect of a shoot to me.
Here is a handful of my favourites. Isn’t the internet the best? It’s like having the biggest library in the world, of gorgeous coffee table books!
(Not sure who all of these are by, or where I found them, apologies)

Sigh. Beautiful.
Meow. We love our cats here (obviously) and apparently so does the catwalk. I mean, why else would it be called a CATwalk? Well further re-inforcing our beliefs, here are a few snaps of some rather kitty-inspired get-ups. Not particularly loving any of them, except perhaps the novelty sweater, but thought it would make a fun blog post anyway!

There are many so-called fashion “rules” and who’s to say who is right or who is wrong? Fashion is wonderful because it can be so creative and it’s fantastic that everybody can have different styles and unique ideas for their outfits. Having said that, there are a few things that I (Sam) personally try to adhere to. These are some personal dislikes, that I try to avoid that I thought I’d share with you guys.
ONE: The Denim Skirt and 3/4 Leggings

One thing I really dislike is a denim skirt paired with 3/4 length leggings. Mainly I think it looks cute on a seven year-old but anyone over 13 should perhaps re-think it.
I think it does nothing but accentuate the wrong things (especially when patterned or bright). If you really want to wear denim skirts with leggings, perhaps consider opaque tights instead, or even just wear leggings that go all the way down to your ankles (this accentuates the THINNEST part of your leg, rather than the widest).
If you want to wear 3/4 leggings or it’s all you have, why not try and wear it with high boots, which will be much more flattering.

OR, even better, why not team a dressier fabric skirt with leggings, like the very chic lady pictured here. Love the wet look leggings.
TWO: JEAN LEGGINGS

Okay, I am sure they’re super comfy, and yes they’re super tight, but seriously, unless you have a body like Nicole Richie I think you should be careful. Leggings designed to look like jeans unfortunately don’t quite hug you the way a good pair of real denims will, as the fabric just doesn’t have that strength. Well-placed pockets on jeans can make your bum look fantastic, but the drawn-on pockets on leggings, hmm… well, make sure you double-check your reflection before heading out the door!

If you’re totally obsessed with the comfort-factor of the jean-leggings, make like Kate Bosworth here and make sure you wear them with long tops that almost cover your bum. To dress the look up and elongate your figure, wear heels!
THREE: THONGS/FLIP FLOPS

I Google-imaged the pictures used in this post, and gosh, when I typed in ‘thongs’, I didn’t get pictures of the sort of thongs I meant! =) Anyway, regardless of what you call them, my own little pet peeve is people who insist on wearing rubber thongs everyday, everywhere. You can have the cutest outfit in the world, but as soon as I see thongs, I guess I just think it’s lazy. And they are usually really grubby looking too.

Thongs are great for the beach, Twin Cat is actually located right on the beach so we know how great thongs are. But for going out at night? And for school? For shopping? Or for work? There are many fantastic, comfortable alternatives out there, namely ballet flats. In leather, canvas, synthetic, whatever floats your boat, they come in an array of colours and brands and price ranges and are just as comfy to walk in all day long! We personally love sequined ones, or plain leather ones. For great canvas flats that have arch support make sure you look at the Vans range - love them too!
New stock arriving in store within days, can’t wait to share it with you!

So here at Twin Cat we’re always harping on about how we’re inspired as much by street fashion as we are by designers. I think it’s fantastic that street photography has taken off around the world as much as it has (due of course to the Internet) and it means that it’s so easy to see some of the most stylish people without even leaving home!
For your Sunday viewing pleasure, here is a small collection of some of my (Sam’s) favourite snaps as of late.

(Alexa Chung always looks fantastic - always love her take on festival style!)

(And of course, my future wifey Ladyhawke, always rockin the leather and flannel!)
Here are my top picks for what you need to have this winter!
(And when I say ‘need’, what I really mean is ‘lust for’… or if you are entitled to KRudd’s stimulus package, well… maybe you do need them afterall..)
There are of course a zillion other things I could mention (we are afterall completely obsessed with fashion) but I’ll keep it short.
Happy Sunday kittens!

TREND ALERT! Winter is on its way and its time to get into back into some warm, comfy boots. There’s nothing worse than wearing shoes only to realise that there’s a hole in them (often too late, as your feet are soaked by this point).
Enter Frye- a family owned shoe brand that’s been around since 1863. Sturdy. Dependable. Practical. Stylish. These are the words that can be used to describe the Frye brand which have authentic ’60s and ’70s design. So dependable, infact, they were used by U.S. soldiers during the Civil War (Teddy Roosevelt wore a pair of rough riders during the Spanish-American Civil War!!).
But forget about all that. Let’s talk about what make Frye so good. Detail, detail, detail! It takes a painstaking 190 steps to make a single pair of Frye boots. If that isn’t love, we don’t know what is. And you know they’re a good brand when their parent company (Jimlar Corporation) also design shoes for CK!
Twin Cat has a pair of authentic vintage FULL-GRAIN SUEDE/NUBUCK LEATHER Frye cowboy boots of an amazing quality for you to get your hot little hands on! And let’s be honest, cowboy boots are going to be big once again this winter, so why not do the trend with a high-quality pair of boots?
