Fashion Do’s and Dont’s
There are many so-called fashion “rules” and who’s to say who is right or who is wrong? Fashion is wonderful because it can be so creative and it’s fantastic that everybody can have different styles and unique ideas for their outfits. Having said that, there are a few things that I (Sam) personally try to adhere to. These are some personal dislikes, that I try to avoid that I thought I’d share with you guys.
ONE: The Denim Skirt and 3/4 Leggings

One thing I really dislike is a denim skirt paired with 3/4 length leggings. Mainly I think it looks cute on a seven year-old but anyone over 13 should perhaps re-think it.
I think it does nothing but accentuate the wrong things (especially when patterned or bright). If you really want to wear denim skirts with leggings, perhaps consider opaque tights instead, or even just wear leggings that go all the way down to your ankles (this accentuates the THINNEST part of your leg, rather than the widest).
If you want to wear 3/4 leggings or it’s all you have, why not try and wear it with high boots, which will be much more flattering.

OR, even better, why not team a dressier fabric skirt with leggings, like the very chic lady pictured here. Love the wet look leggings.
TWO: JEAN LEGGINGS

Okay, I am sure they’re super comfy, and yes they’re super tight, but seriously, unless you have a body like Nicole Richie I think you should be careful. Leggings designed to look like jeans unfortunately don’t quite hug you the way a good pair of real denims will, as the fabric just doesn’t have that strength. Well-placed pockets on jeans can make your bum look fantastic, but the drawn-on pockets on leggings, hmm… well, make sure you double-check your reflection before heading out the door!

If you’re totally obsessed with the comfort-factor of the jean-leggings, make like Kate Bosworth here and make sure you wear them with long tops that almost cover your bum. To dress the look up and elongate your figure, wear heels!
THREE: THONGS/FLIP FLOPS

I Google-imaged the pictures used in this post, and gosh, when I typed in ‘thongs’, I didn’t get pictures of the sort of thongs I meant! =) Anyway, regardless of what you call them, my own little pet peeve is people who insist on wearing rubber thongs everyday, everywhere. You can have the cutest outfit in the world, but as soon as I see thongs, I guess I just think it’s lazy. And they are usually really grubby looking too.

Thongs are great for the beach, Twin Cat is actually located right on the beach so we know how great thongs are. But for going out at night? And for school? For shopping? Or for work? There are many fantastic, comfortable alternatives out there, namely ballet flats. In leather, canvas, synthetic, whatever floats your boat, they come in an array of colours and brands and price ranges and are just as comfy to walk in all day long! We personally love sequined ones, or plain leather ones. For great canvas flats that have arch support make sure you look at the Vans range - love them too!
New stock arriving in store within days, can’t wait to share it with you!
